Connecting the Greens, a project of Imagine Bloomfield, and Jayme Melrose have produced a beautiful map of Community, Collective and Creative Gardens in the North End of Halifax featuring the history of the spaces as well as walking routes to explore. This localized map was created with the input of gardeners and residents throught HRM and works in collabration with our interactive, online map . If you are part of a community garden, have a yard to share or know of a space you think more gardeners should know about, please add it to our interactive community map below. If you have localized maps of gardens in your neighborhood, get in touch and let us know!
There are two ways you can use this map to find a space to garden. The first is to browse the community gardens (green thumb-tacks), if you click on the tack, it will give you more information on the garden site and you can contact the gardens directly to secure a plot in your neighborhood. The second is using the Halifax Landshare project to connect with someone who has space in their yard to share. Halifax Landshare connects people who want to garden, but don’t have space, with people who have space to share. In addition to showing where all of the gardens are located in HRM, this map also shows the locations of people interested in finding land or sharing their space.
